Helping Children and Youth Thrive Through Purposeful Play, Mentorship and Guided Reflection
Restoring Our Children’s Hope (ROCH) is an upstream youth-development nonprofit serving children and youth ages 3–17. We use purposeful play, sport, mentorship, and guided reflection to strengthen the protective factors that help young people grow, connect, make healthy choices, and thrive.
ROCH recognizes that positive youth development does not happen in isolation. Children are influenced by the relationships and environments around them. That is why our approach engages the protective factors found within the individual, family, school, peer, and community environments.
Through structured play and circle-based learning, children and youth practice teamwork, communication, emotional awareness, problem-solving, decision-making, leadership, and positive relationship-building.
ROCH’s work goes beyond the activity itself. Through Reflect, Connect and Apply (RCA), participants are guided to reflect on what happened during play, connect those lessons to situations in their everyday lives, and apply healthier choices within their families, schools, peer relationships, and communities.
Our Purpose
ROCH revitalizes hope in the youth by using the influence of organized sports, educational play, mentorship, and civic participation to foster self-belief, improve life capabilities, and cultivate stronger, more vibrant local environments for everyone.
Our Vision
We foresee a Pennsylvania where every young person flourish in a stable and caring setting, benefiting from supportive mentorship, authentic prospects, and clear routes toward bravery, perseverance, communal leadership, and a bright future.
Our Dedication
ROCH remains dedicated to providing impactful, diverse, and age-appropriate growth opportunities that ensure children and teens are always the primary focus of our developmental work.
We recognize that true community evolution happens when our youth gather to practice unity, accountability, fortitude, and servant-based leadership styles.
The ROCH Advantage Today
Youth Embody the Transformation They Seek to Experience:
ROCH utilizes a distinct, group-centered educational framework that turns athletic activities and play into tangible moments for skill-building and personal advancement.
A skilled ROCH mentor establishes an inclusive environment, presents the task, guides the group through physical activity, ensures a mindful conclusion, and facilitates the essential Reflect, Connect, and Apply cycle.
Members evaluate their actions during the session, relate those moments to obstacles in their daily lives, and pinpoint positive behaviors they can utilize repeatedly.
As a result, the play area evolves into more than a simple park. It becomes a training center where youth learn to collaborate, regulate feelings, settle disputes, include peers, learn from failure, and lead through active community service.
Primary Pillars of Focus
ROCH’s holistic initiatives target five specific pillars of youth and neighborhood growth:
Stopping bullying, online harassment, and aggression; advocating for substance-free lifestyles and smart choices; assisting families navigating recovery and change; focusing on life skills, STEM, and leadership; and boosting physical and social health via structured athletics.
These goals are realized through our specialized branches: ROCH PeaceBuilders, ROCH Play for Hope, ROCH Young Leaders Academy, ROCH Strong Choices, and ROCH HopeBridge.
Better Communities via Collaboration
ROCH understands that the youth succeed best when parents, teachers, mentors, and local business leaders unite for a common goal.
We invite collaborators who share our drive for building safe zones, impactful educational moments, supportive connections, and better opportunities for the next generation to step up and lead with confidence.
